Why do Americans think they have a right wing and left instead of right-wing and right?

Canadian, European, Japanese, Australia, etc, have the political left and right. The longer it goes right to the left is far from what Americans consider left. Why then the fundamentalist right wing America? "The rest of the industrialized world is too far left? Everyone is wrong? Or do Americans have no choice?

As the U.S. right wing is Facis, and have no idea what that means centrism. They no idea what a U.S. call to the extreme left is really the general public.
