What is the yearly income of the richest 1% of Americans?
Barack Obama told CNN he wants to repeal the Bush tax cuts for the richest 1% of Americans. (I think Hillary said the same thing. So did Kerry four years ago.) I know this doesn’t include me, but how much does a person have to be making a year to be in this tax bracket? $200,000/year? More? (Please give the source of your information.)
Actually, people in the income range you mentioned ($200,000-500,000) a year pay the heaviest amount of tax because of the minimum alternative tax. Also that is not considered the top 1%, its upper middle class.
People in that 1% are making over a million a year.
