2008 Racism in politics

For the first time in this rollercoaster of an election period, I sick and disgusted. I could (somehow) of the intestine "Palin Getcha" and "Betcha" painfully boring speeches and McCain but I I can not tolerate racism.

Let's be clear – other than referring to Obama as "that one" and the release of an ad associating Obama with a terrorist, "" I do not think McCain has said openly racist statements against Obama (however, there no such thing as a coded language).

Most disturbing, however, is the recent McCain and Palin at rallies that drew people Obama a "terrorist" and "Obama bin Laden" and even have heard the cry of "Treason!" And "Kill him!"

Not only it is terrible to hear someone threatening violence with a presidential candidate, but considering Barack Obama is the first president Afro-American, you can not ignore the racial implications. In this country, must take account of our history of slavery and Jim Crowism. Less than a century ago it was used for extremist groups and the crowd, as the Ku Klux Klan to terrorize and murder black people. This is one of the first things that comes to mind when I hear someone yell "Kill him!", in reference to Obama.

Racism both direct and disgusting, is systematic and widespread in our society. The racism and hatred of blacks – Obama in particular – is not "unusual".

There were also some disturbing incidents that have brought to my attention:

• An Obama supporter in London was a BB-gun show very closely because he was wearing a t-shirt and Obama being black.

• A Georgia man tried to sell T-shirts representing Barack Obama as Curious George (the monkey hero of children's books beloved).

• We talk about the Bradley effect, which is when people, for fear of appearing racist, such investigations are voting for a black candidate, but then change opinion in the privacy of the voting booth.

• In a speech John Ashcroft (deliberately?) Refers Barack Obama as "Osama". political views aside, it is not politically correct.

Racism and personal attacks must stop. Calling a Muslim and a terrorist, people associate Barack Obama's otherness "(Nevermind that: a) non-Muslims b) being a Muslim not a bad thing). People think seriously: he is a Muslim – do not trust him. He is a friend "for terrorists – do not trust it. He is black – do not trust him. It is time that people look at the facts: Obama is a Senator of the United States with extensive powers and strong academic background. It is a good man and a faithful husband and a father. Frankly, I am tired of ignorant people with no sense to say the least.

What are your reflections on racism and its effect on this election? Have you heard of cases of racism in the campaign? Please share your thoughts and stories.
