The fatal cancer history unprecedented triumph Lance Armstrong

With its unprecedented seventh victory in the recent Tour de France, Lance Armstrong is perhaps the greatest cyclist ever.

The early years
Lance Edward Gunderson born September 18, 1971, Plano, Texas Linda Gayle Mooneyham and Eddie Charles Gunderson. Eddie disappeared when Lance was two, Keith Terry and Linda Armstrong remarried, whose name was taken from Lance. Lance did not get along with her stepfather, was not present for several years, and has expressed no desire to meet his biological father.

Lance was very athletic from a young age, she began to run seriously and swimming at the age of ten years. For thirteen years, started racing triathlons adult fans. His first Tour de France has been disappointing, however, despite his eighth win leg, fell and withdrew from the race.

Cancer Recovery

In 1995, Lance won his first Tour victory at the Bridge, a career that has already participated twice. 1996, began as another successful year for him, who repeated his victory in the Tour Bridge, this time to record more runs, and once again qualified for the Olympics the U.S. team, despite recovery bronchitis.

In February 1997, was declared free of cancer, and created the Lance Armstrong Foundation for cancer patients. in 1998 he returned to take fourth place in the global race map of the championship. The same year, he married Kristin Richard, whom he had met through his foundation.

Tour de France victories and divorce

Competition in the Tour de France for the first time in several years, Armstrong won his first victory in the race, winning four stages of blackjack. Reiterated in 2000, this time with two of his main rivals, who had been absent from the last race, Jan Ullrich and Marco Pantani, Ullrich in second place. In this year also System Shock suffered a car accident, but recovered in time for the 2000 Sydney Olympics where he won a bronze medal.
