Why would military men favor McCain when Obama votes favorably to support G.I.s?

Sen. John McCain, the Republican presidential nominee, continues to hold a substantial lead over his Democratic opponent, Sen. Barack Obama, among military veterans — despite the fact that Obama has consistently voted for higher increases in veterans’ health-care spending and advocated sweeping reforms at the Depart. of Veteran Affairs.

The most recent Gallup poll of registered voters, conducted in mid-August shortly before the Republican National Convention, showed that among those who had served in the military, 56 percent backed McCain, compared to 34 percent for Obama. I am a young woman in the military and a strong Obama supporter. I do not get blinded just by the fact that McCain is a vet and therefore I should vote him, I do not agree with that. I respect him for his service time but believe that Obama will be a better leader overall. I am tired of the condition this country is in; I love this country too much to vote for another 4 years of the same policies. Time for change.
