Why Barack Obama wants to be an African-American?

During his last speeches of Obama say he trying to sound like Dr. Martin Luther King. As an African-American, that bothers me. Obama has a white mother, so it is only half black. Moreover, by definition, African-Americans are descendants slaves. Barack Obama's father was born in Kenya. His ancestors were never slaves. His ancestors have never been oppressed by white America. He grew up in Kansas, not in the hood. And he did not even talk like a black a few months ago.
