Why do u think some people?

Exlcluding financial circumstances, what other reasons is there for not being able to /or wanting to develop your interests.
For example I have met people who i can sit and talk to for 8hours about politics, religion, feminism, body language, music, love, life, food, WHATEVER!
But with some people you sit there and u try your best to talk to them or let them talk so that u can learn from them but they have no interest.
A friend of mine is like this. Iv known her all my life and i love her but she just cannot maintain a conversation and is simply not passionate or interested in anything.
What are the reasons for this kind of behaviour do u think?

She could just be a really depressed person. She could be shy. She could just be trying hard not to be rude and let you talk. And hey, some people just don’t care, they aren’t passionate about anything because they haven’t found that one thing that makes them happy. Just try to get her into some things you’re into (obviously don’t try to shove interest down her throat) but if for instance you like art, take her to an art museum. She has to like something! And then maybe she’s like me… most people think that I don’t care about anything just because I’m not up for spending hours at a time at the mall or getting skin cancer at the beach. I like to spend my time learning new things or exploring new ideas. Just ask her about something different.
