There are two aspects of the crisis plan that all companies should be documented, and even long before a crisis occurs rehearsed. The first is based on the physical aspects of the response and dealing with a crisis, such as water or fire salvage damaged property, dealing with Focus on environmental hazards and get back to work and run without, hopefully, skipping a beat. The second is only to coordinate Communication focused. Companies must be prepared in advance without delay and regularly communicate their responses to employees, interest groups, communities, Customers and the media.
No foreigner had to be oil spills, BP has a disaster team in place to cap, siphon attempt and quickly clean up oil. BP did not seem to either have a disaster recovery or crisis communication strategy in place. Too much time elapsed between the accident and tried it with a lid dome containment System. When a Disaster Recovery-Mobile team was on site to the physical effort of limiting to manage well, domes would have been at the ready in advance for the effectiveness tested.
Together with the need for physical disaster recovery team comes the need for communication Management Team, the company is at the ready to communicate with all stakeholders, including employees, communities and the media. CEO Tony Hayward has made appearances in devastated areas along the Gulf of Mexico, but his show of empathy too little too late. It was a fly by the seat of the pants communications strategy. It is no surprise passed that BP chief executive Tony Hayward, head of the disaster to Bob Dudley, a senior manager.
BP has spent 2.35 billion so far tried, the problem and to change the price tag goes daily from the multi-millions. As oil continues to hemorrhage, BP has continued to fall, met 14-year lows. The cost of non-response has on the immediate crisis was a loss of any brand equity that BP sought to earn. As oil flows into the Gulf of Mexico, it's worth draining of BP.
