Havas’s Jones Says BP’s Woes Exacerbated by Brand Image
There is an old English saying that we "know the price of everything but the value of nothing" and all our slow, "I want it now" society that word still has a great interest. When I walk into the supermarket I am bombarded with "offers" half price, buy one get one free " also known as "BOGOF", "30% extra" and so on, but what it really means to me, the consumer?
Take the case of fresh strawberries, which appear to have been "half price" throughout the season, in fact, I'm sure you have not yet seen a box no flash at half price. Do we really remember what consumers have paid for our strawberries last year? Not me but perhaps you could dig and find an old receipt and tell me. The price is "Half" flash makes us buy more, even if Strawberries are always badged as such? Well, certainly, and called the attention of buyers, we felt that this could be a good "deal", we studied do not miss! Our eyes always instinctively go to the reception we said what we recorded on special offers today. If it is a number, we are satisfied properly, even if it means that spent more money than we intended or one week after you throw a lot of food because the first part took the lead, updated.
If a product is always positive, how long it is before the sale price to be "real" price? When a product is sold at a reduced rate this deadline will be devalued as a commodity for consumer?
"We take into account the actual production costs of our purchases? They began arriving uncomfortable at the time of purchase if we draw attention to issues such as animal welfare, the use of global resources, well-being of workers and fair trade with suppliers, especially if we are actually forced to make an ethical decision. The problem is that if ethics is a good idea in the abstract sense, when we are sitting watching television reports, the strategic planning of corporate social responsibility or a drink with friends in the real sense when it starts to affect your pocket or force us to implement the change suddenly not so clear.
Thus while seeming to care about the price of our purchases, no one cares about your true value?
