The revolution that has transformed the Editorial writers (and how you may not realize!)

What follows is a story concept means. Please Stay with me, will be worth at the end. You see, a revolution has happened, and I wanted to be sure you do not miss it.

Initially, the books were written by hand on scrolls of leather. They are extremely rare, precious expensive. Most people have never bothered to learn to read, because books were scarce and work was more important than reading. All I have in the books were very important things, like the sacred texts or royal decrees.

The people, mainly together in groups to hear what these texts say, when an authority figure to read aloud.

In the 16th century, Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing types mobile printing. Without doubt, presses existed before, but the team Gutenberg relatively quick and inexpensive production of books. People began to learn to read. The books were suddenly affordable, though still expensive.

The books have been an individual experience, people read and studied in isolation. Cultural emphasis on individualism.

The impression was so cheap year later (17, 18, 19) as political manifestos, advertising texts, guides and have made their way to printing. Then came the magazines and novels. The publication is now an industry.

Basically, people still read so isolation.

In the 20th century, television and radio has changed the way information is disseminated. Literacy is no longer necessary, or an authority figure. If you own the right technology (radio or television), has gotten the message, and you can listen to alone or in groups.

These "large" has wheels to develop messages that meet the widest possible community. Advertising, the company and an editor "was involved in the form of station owners.

Then came the Internet.

Now all different. We could talk about many aspects of community isolation cons, the resurgence of literacy, and the outbreak of large niche markets. It's all very nice.

But we're writers. What matters to us is something that almost does not hear the Writers speak. What happens to the writer in this revolution?

This is good news (for writers, at least). In Internet publishers, podcasting, digital media world, are out of the equation.

Any other media, ancient manuscripts of modern television, demanding type business to deliver the message. This essentially eliminates Internet. Anyone can get anywhere.

Not only that, I can create a website for tomorrow $ 20 which has exactly the same "scope" as CNN online. This is an industry term that means it is accessible to as many people. (True that not all of them listening on my site but my technology "scope" to communicate with them.)

When I started writing, was to find publishers and sales. Many writers wrote the industry always look that way. Many writers are also poor and intimidated.

The problems with many publishers. In First, the editors determine the content and are prone to buy things they can sell better. This means that niche products, niche markets, and unusual writing outside the norm, it is almost impossible to sell. Second, the editors keep the most money. It is true, I know that taking risks, but the agreement is implemented so that editors and writers do not get rich. Although there are exceptions. But for every JK Rowling, there are dozens of Randolph Hearst and Rupert Murdoch. Thirdly, the game is the editors who make the rules. The authors have very little influence.

The beauty of Internet is that the publisher is obsolete.

Now if you want to publish a new way and take stiff shelves libraries of all brick and mortar on the ground at the same time time, you'll have to try to break the traditional model of publication (good luck).

But if I told you that you could now set up your own online magazine as a website? You can "monetize" (the term for using your site to make money) by selling advertising or selling products. If you can write an interesting book or taking a large collection of recipes, you can sell a product line digital (ebook).

The line between the author and the publisher is more diffuse, that has disappeared.

The first people to recognize the enormous potential of Internet as a place of publication of new technology geeks. In an ironic twist, they were the same who do not care.

The next wave of recognition is happening now as professional buyers and residents of the ancient world infomercial and direct sales has been beaten to the Internet. These marketing gurus realize they can now information products and sell advertising cheaper, faster and easier than anything else.

This is the part I do not want the dream. The Writers have a huge natural advantage here. Most internet marketers are complaining loudly about one thing: content. This is the new word for articles, podcasts, videos, and other information that people are searching online.

The content is difficult for most vendors Internet. Course these people need to master marketing expertise to develop a suitable site and then direct traffic, but the thing is who complain not the technical point of view, it is. Content.

As writers, are natural-born content decisions to machines. Most of us can write well and easily in a wide range of issues, and we know how to do an interview and how to do basic research, are able to create sentences and not flinch when we asked in our view – of anything. In short, we are communicators.

Person on earth is better positioned to take advantage of Internet writers.

However, Most writers are not aware of the Internet, do not know a revolution has happened, and even if we could convince to test the water's edge, howl in protest at having to learn technology.

That's right. The technology will be a little more of a stumbling block, but can be learned. (Hey, boys of 12 years have their own website, why we are in such a panic?)

Another great leap forward is the realization that the old model no longer exists. Editors should not participate in his quest to get his words and ideas in front of his readers.Of course, you need an understanding of new models and paradigms economic. Even today, these new business models are being developed. Ask Ten Internet entrepreneurs how to make money online and probably successful get ten different answers, even more, since many of these kids to soak more than one business model.

In short, it's a great day to be a writer. Do you realize what just happened?
