Early Republic Politics

early republic politics
How did politics divide the early republic?

Pretty much the same as today– lots of “mudslinging”– political cartoons– and so forth. The difference was the political parties used to setup a table outside the voting place– with different color ballots for their candidate — and offer a drink of whiskey if you would VOTE FOR their candidate!

This sounds to me like a much BETTER system of elections than what we have now.
