Heliovolt Corporation has opened a manufacturing plant in Austin, Texas that has an initial capacity of producing 20 MW of solar cells per year. On August 14, 2008, Pacific Gas & Electric Company announced power purchase agreements for two photovoltaic power plants proposed in the County San Luis Obispo, California, with a total maximum power of 800 MW. Both projects are subject to the extension of investment tax credit for energy renewable.
