Was Obama’s Nobel granted for Presidential achievments,?
Or is this another example of taking material out of Context?
Granted the award amplifies his merits with the statement, “Obama has as President created a new climate in international politics.” http://nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/peace/laureates/2009/press.html
Even the New York Times says, this prize, to a 48-year-old freshman president, for “extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples,” http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/10/world/10nobel.html
I think it’s also important to note his nomination came about only a few days after his inauguration. And from his nomination it was obvious he changed peoples reference of what can be achieved if one applies themselves. “Per Aspera ad Astra.”
Living in Asia, for 31 years, I witnessed a tremendous impact on people’s belief in the United States when he won. That in itself was worth recognition.
He did things already before he was President, and State and US Senator for NINE YEARS!!! (Not 150 days like these fools are saying).
He reopened dialog with many countries, is trying to help the working poor out in America with healthcare, trying to reform pollution, and cancelled the Polish missiles which were seriously complicating relations with Russia in Scandinavian countries.
These are all issues very near and dear to the hearts of Swedes and Norse.
Nobody should be surprised he got the Nobel prize.
