Has anyone even read the first amendment?
If I hear the phrase, “separation of church and state” in the gay marriage debate one more time I will just scream! Here, let me quote it for you verbatim:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Where on earth does it say separation of church and state? This is a concoction of the anti-religious liberal agenda! People’s religious beliefs have everything to do with politics. In fact, the exact opposite is true: the founders did not want government to dictate religious matters, as had happened in England.
So, can the gay community please pull a constitutionally relevant argument into their debate?
“In other words, the constitution no longer means what it meant when it was written but what successive stretchings and strainings now cause it to mean.”
Thomas Sowell
The Vision of the Anointed
*Edit*
Wow, look at the history fail. They have no idea the “establishment” was meant to represent things like the church of england and it’s tyrrany. It had nothing to do with secular governement. Epic FAIL.
