What did you think of Monique saying- thanks..for showing that its about the performance and not the politics?

I absolutely agree with her, the Oscars are WAY to political, it seems to be who you know rather than what you do, the fact that a woman has been nominated for and has won the best Director award for the first time is shameful, the fact that an African-American has NEVER won a Director award is even more shameful (Lee Daniels nomination is the first ever). People of colour (any colour including Asians) are so under-represented, comedy is still hugely ignored. The Oscars need a complete overhaul to bring it up to the 21st century. What do you guys think?

It was right on the money.

And I agree with her 100%.

No way should Sandra Bullock have won over Gabby Sildibe. Gabby’s performance was awesome. Especially considering the fact that she didn’t have years and years of acting training.

And for those who don’t know, Hattie McDaniels, who Mo’nique mentioned, couldn’t even attend the Oscars ceremony with the rest of Hollywood because of the color of her skin. They had to present her award to her separately from everybody else.

Like I said, Mo’nique was right on the money.

And you’re right, the Oscars really do need a complete overhaul. It’s long overdue.
