Great Awakening: 21st Century Charter for Churches in the U.S.
The editor of Sojourners, Jim Wallis Evangelical Church has published a new book, The Great Awakening, written with the hope of awakening to the Christians of America institutionalized part of the rebirth and renewal to heal, repair and transform "the Biblical scandal of poverty in the world and here at home, the crisis of environmental degradation and climate change threaten to create of God, and many attacks against human life and dignity to the shame of our world. "[Page February 12, 2008, Sojourners]
reactivate search for Jim, but non-institutional Christian of the Beatitudes, calls for a revolution and starts Common sense and goes back again to the voice of wisdom who founded this nation.
"Shortly after publishing the booklet" Meaning Good "[February 14, 1776] in the United States, I saw that most probability that a revolution in the system of government would be followed by a revolution in the system of religion … The world is my country, all mankind are my brothers, and do good is my religion. "-Tom Paine
Wallis proposes seven principles and rules of engagement for Christian politics in the world:
1. God hates injustice.
2. The kingdom of God is a new order.
3. The church is an alternative community
4. The kingdom of God transforms the world to address specific aspects of injustice.
5. The church is the conscience of the state, holding it responsible for upholding justice and stop the violence.
6. Adopt a global perspective.
7. Look for the common good.
The seven points are very good and I wish Jim luck and pray that Christians give cause for Western institutions have failed to sleep in the commission. Too many churches in America have become places to socialize and have fun and be written in the back just do the minimum that is necessary if one claims to be Christian, and churches became businesses that maintain the status quo rather than on the social gospel.
The Gospel, which means good news, Jesus preached, was very political and a direct challenge to the powerful political and arrogant, conceited, self-righteous teachers law.
Two thousand years ago the Cross has no religious symbolism and meaning was not a gem. When Jesus said, "Take your cross and follow me all the time that meant the issue of a statement policy of the main roads in Jerusalem were lined with crucified agitators, rebels, dissidents and others who disturbed the status quo of the Roman army of occupation.
In the last days of Nero's reign [54-68 AS] by the dominance of Christian Domitian [] 1981 to 1996 have been persecuted for following Jesus, nonviolence loving and merciful. That Jesus was the first left behind when Augustine wrote the Theory of Just War.
Before Emperor Constantine brought Christianity to the present, all the early Fathers of the Church teaches that Christians should not serve in the army but willingly suffer rather than inflict harm on another. San Augustine was the first Church Father to consider the notion of just war and at least 100 years after Constantine, the Empire required that all soldiers must be baptized and thus began the decline of Christianity forever.
With the justification of war and violence supplied by the theory of war Augustine's fair, has become a bad law. Nothing has really changed two millennia, for today's Orwellian world politicians claim the way to peace is war and nuclear weapons provide protection. The claims of American money "In God We Trust", but the truth is the faith of the United States is in an out of control Military-industrial complex that seeks domination, power and control over all who challenge and question the status quo America. Eisenhower warned America of not tie our economy to the military-industrial complex as most of the prophets, was ignored.
In 313 AD, Emperor Constantine legitimized Christianity and thus Therefore, those who had been considered rebels and bandits have begun to enjoy the prestige and political power. another name for Jesus is the Prince of Peace, and with the union of church and state, his true teachings were reinterpreted. The justification for the war and the use of state-sponsored violence corrupted what Christ He has taught and inspired. Jesus was always close to WAKE UP! The Divine lives and you and everyone else. Christ taught that it is required to continue to love our enemies, we forgive those who hate, curse and insult them, without even a thought of recovery.
Christ lived a life that evil can be demonstrated contested, without looking, and the cycle of a tooth for a tooth, eye for eye "will never bring peace and justice. Before Emperor Constantine brought Christianity to the present, all the early Fathers of the Church teaches and all Christians have never served in the military, but he willingly suffered to cause harm to another.
The term was not coined until Christianity three decades after Jesus walked the earth. Until the day of Paul, the disciples of Christ were called Members of the Way taught how!
Christ was never a Christian, but it was social justice, radical revolutionary Palestinian road warrior Jews piles [Intifada in Arabic], because he challenged the job security of the Temple authorities by teaching the people who do not have to pay priests for ritual baths or sacrificing livestock to right with God, because God loved them and as they were: sinners, poor, diseased, outcasts, widows, orphans, refugees and prisoners all living under Roman military occupation.
What was Jesus crucified disturb the status quo of the Roman forces occupying their time in teaching the subversive concept that Caesar had this power because God allowed and that God preferred the humble sinner, the poor, the sick, the outcasts, widows, orphans, refugees and prisoners all living under Roman Occupation above the elite and arrogant!
Clemente, Tertillian, Polycarp and other early Church Father taught that violence is a contradiction of what Christ was. There have always been Christians who voted against this corruption writing, and have been ignored, reviled, rejected, ridiculed, persecuted and maligned throughout time. There are always Christians who never abandoned the true teachings, such as Quakers, Mennonites, Catholics and Protestants who have been faithful witnesses to Christ by denouncing violence and caring for the poor. There's also always been Jews, Muslims, atheists, anarchists, Lay, rebels and revolutionaries have lived lives that embody the message of Christ actually does what he actually said, which was the most revolutionary.
Christ knows that it is not easy
You know how it can be difficult
As things go
I'm going to crucify John Lennon
Institutionalized Christians can crucify me for saying that many who attend church Jesus crucified American 21st century and re-described as an institution to which the love and message the Bible. All institutions are artificial and the Bible was not faxed from heaven, was written after centuries of oral history passed down. Always stories are told, change, and we all know that if you ever played the game of your childhood. The scribes were imperfect human who made many mistakes, and who copied the text, many have added their own views and some have even left out what they wanted.
The most decisive event in the history of Christianity when the emperor was Constantine accepted the Christian faith, for those who were persecuted, once they are protected by an earthly king. Both patriarchal monarchical state and church were formed at the same time. Power struggles and debates were common among early Christians. Individual churches determined which texts are read, and all had their favorites. Constantine sought to unite his empire, and to unite the church was once the political savvy. Announced pay fifty copies of illustrated writing to be bound, and therefore the fee the Bible was established and sealed. There was a heated debate among the bishops about what should be included and the excluded.
The proto-orthodox, who had become in the dominant voice, which has given a heretic for everyone. The proto-orthodox loved writing required to be burned, because they generally did not fit their understanding of God. We know more about how different today's Christianity was the discovery of the Nag Hammadi Library. [See Part I of this series for more information]
Can I crucified for this, but I maintain that there is a cult in the Body of Christ in the USA who loves the institution and the pages of the Bible, and is a cult of the dead. Simply because the barrel was sealed, does not mean that God stopped talking to his creation and we can all hear it / /? the voice of our conscience, and the voices of vessels open, as poets, musicians, critics, dissenters and rebels of history.
The fact that I are no longer the church, I am always connected to the Body Mystical Christ and the most rigid fundamentalists are my brothers and sisters. St. Paul who never stopped expressing his freedom of speech, warned the disciples Christ, not to judge non-believers, but to bring the faithful good works. My hope and my prayer is to repair, heal and repair the lifeless body of Christ to the West reconnecting with their roots in the land where Jesus walked and taught that the peacemakers who are God's children are not dying of hunger, bombings, torture or occupy others.
The Christian exodus from Holy Land, which is in pieces, Bantustans, made his number 20% of the total, at least 1.3% since 1948, not is because Islam, but due to a brutal occupation, inhuman military denies human rights and disregards international law has aided and abetted by the U.S. government and its citizens hard earned cash.
Each individual Christian is one of the cells in the cosmic body of Christ. "So we are in Christ, and many one body, and each member belongs to all others. "-Romans 12:04
Corinthians "His pieces are for equality of others. If a party [to body] suffers, all suffer together. "-1 12:25-26
The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him and all the prophets have said, "You will recognize believers in their having mercy for one another, and his love for others, and friendship to others, like the body, when a member of suffering, the whole body hurts. "
John Lennon wrote the marriage Ballad Of John & Yoko, a few weeks after their marriage and 1969 and held a "bed-in 'to peace to awaken the world through a media event at the abomination of war in Vietnam. Using the global scene, said John, Yoko and I are willing to be clowns in the world, if that do well … And I say peace … The fight is in the mind. We must bury our own monsters and stop condemning people. We are all Christ and Hitler. We want to win to Christ. We try to make Christ's message contemporary. What if there were ads, music, movies, television and newspapers! Christ made miracles to say your message. Well, today is the miracle of communication, so that use. "
Who battle rages to make Christ and contemporary in this series continues, I'll be using the World Wide Web.
