What should be italicized in an MLA Fornat essay?

This is something i would like to know because I am wondering if all the names of groups, organizations, businesses, political parties, documents, books, newspapers, articles, etc. in the essay need to be italicized. Should names of people also be italicized?

The only thing that needs to be italicized is the names of books or articles. I’m not too sure about the names of newspapers, I suppose that you could, but if you do, just be consistent–if you do it to one do it to all the other names of newspapers in the paper.

Since there are so many different ways to do things in formatting papers, the best thing that you can do is buy a reference book for MLA. I’ve found that it’s best to have a book like that on hand when writing a paper because while you can look some of the stuff on the internet, a lot of the time the info that your searching for is hard to find or you come across conflicting information. Another book that could be useful is “The Little Penguin Handbook”, which outlines how to write a paper, common mistakes to avoid, and most importantly there is a section dedicated to the various styles for writing papers and how to cite sources in MLA, APA, CMS, and CSE formatted essays.
