
Vigils held in London and Liverpool continued to attack gay
On Friday, September 25, 2009, Ian Baynham, 62-person gay, and his friend were subjected to homophobic violence in Trafalgar Square, London.
When questioned this behavior unacceptable Ian, was seriously assaulted by three young men, two women and a man. He later succumbed to his injuries on 13 October.
Ian is not the only one, is that thousands of people who have been victims of hate crimes.
In response to the death of Ian Baynham 17-24-30 Facebook group and the Pride of London invited the public to attend a silent candlelight vigil light, starting at 8:00 pm in Trafalgar Square tonight.
More than 10,000 people are expected at the event which includes a call to a world of two minutes of silence 21 hours GMT.
Birrell Paul, Chair of Pride London said: "I am disgusted and saddened by this needless death. Homophobic murder is the fourth in London for the past 12 months and this must stop! I believe the Metropolitan Police, Ian bring to justice the murderers and we will deliver any and all assistance to do so.
"I urge Londoners to join us in Trafalgar Square, Friday, October 30th to remember Ian. As we prepare for the World Pride 2012, is timely recalls that even in a city as progressive as LGBT people in London are still victims of abuse and even murder. "
BBC radio presenter Sandi Toksvig will be presenting speakers for the evening with performances of the Gay Men's Chorus and the London Gay Symphonic Band.
Liverpool will stage a vigil, as well Sunday night a police officer trainee James Parkes, who remains in critical condition after being beaten by a group of 20 youths last weekend.
The 22-year-old was attacked as he left a club with your partner and friends in the gay district of the city 22 hours on Sunday night. So far, police arrested and sentenced to six young people between 14 and 17 and are calling for more witnesses to occur.
The vigil will begin at 8:00 pm on Stanley Street where the attack occurred.
