Early Byzantine mosaics in the Middle East a group of Christian mosaics created between the fourth and eighth centuries, ancient Syria, Palestine and Egypt, when the area belonged to the Byzantine Empire. A prime example of Byzantine mosaic of the region can be found on Mount Nebo, a place of pilgrimage in the Byzantine era, where Moses died. Among the many sixth-century mosaics in the church complex in an area known as Siyagha (Discovered after 1933) is the most interesting in the baptistery. Mosaic floor intact in the Byzantine monastery, built on the foundations of a shrine even before the third or fourth century, is expected in about 530.
